Ruff Academy Dog Training

 Ruff Academy Dog Training

Every dog has a purpose, let us help you find it!

You chose to get a dog because you know how strong the canine-human bond can be.  But just like with other humans, developing a strong bond with your dog takes time and effort.  Your dog must learn to trust you and come to feel like a member of the family.  To strengthen the bond, you must consistently work on building reliability and confidence in your dog as it continues to grow and thrive over the years.  Dogs are naturally affectionate.  Their instinct is to want to bond.  Dogs want to love and be loved. They want to be a part of the family, grow with the family and protect the family. This is what we expect when we welcome a dog into our home.  It is when the dog decides to start “acting out” or become destructive that we need some guidance as to what to do to modify the situation. Taking the time to train your canine is a small price to pay for the unconditional love and loyalty you receive from them for years to come.

Common problems shown that can be modified through training are:

  • Aggression towards people
  • Aggression toward other dogs or other animals
  • Household behavior probes, such as excessive barking or digging
  • Destructive behaviors
  • Undesirable behaviors, such as jumping or nipping
  • Attachment or separation anxiety and related problems
  • Shy or fearful behaviors
  • Abnormal behaviors, such as licking, air snapping or obsessive tail chasing
  • Hyperactivity
  • Resource guarding issue
  • Separation related issues
  • Appetite or house training issues.

DOGA” Doggie Yoga (When in session)

This is an opportunity for you to build your dogs confidence, increase flexibility for you and your canine and also to calm your hyperactive hound!  The most spunky, crazy and hyperactive dogs excel the most at this because they don’t always have the skills to slow down and don’t take the time to bond to you because they are always off on their own tangents! This helps you slow them down, bond with them and learn to communicate in a new way!  Plus, as humans always “stretch” before exercising, it is important that before your dog enters into an activity such as agility or any kind of jumping or swimming, that they warm up!  These techniques are short, simple to follow and fun to do! There is limited space so inquire about dates and times!
